17,848 PASS LICENSURE EXAM FOR TEACHERS

THE PROFESSIONAL Regulation Commission announced 10,039 elementary teachers and 7,809 secondary teachers passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers held last month.

PRC said 20,567 elementary teachers took the exam, but only 10,039 passed, adding 246 of those who passed were first timers, while 9,793 were repeaters.

Meanwhile, 18,717 secondary teachers took the exam, but only 7,809 passed.

Of those who passed, 2,194 were first timers and 5,615 repeaters.

The exam was given by four members of the Board for Professional Teachers, including chairman Dr. Rosita Navarro.

Maricris Quingco Colipano of Cebu Technological University-Carmen led the successful examinees for elementary level with a score of 92.40 percent.

The commission said no schools qualified as top-performing in elementary level.

In the secondary level, Polytechnic University of the Philippines was the best performing school with 65 of its 80 takers passing the exam for a success rate of 81.25 percent.

Kim Paulino Ravida of University of Southeastern Philippines-Davao City achieved the highest score for secondary level with 93.60.
