PACQUIAO TO SUPPORT PROBE ON ‘DESAPARECIDOS’
SENATOR Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Pacquiao supported proposals to investigate forced disappearances during the Martial Law era.
The boxer-turned-politician said on Friday that an investigation should be conducted and the culprits behind the atrocities be punished.
Pacquiao made the remark during his visit to Cebu to pay his respects to Father Rudy Romano, a desaparecido.
“Sundin natin ang batas. Mag-imbestiga tayo para malaman kung sino ang mga dapat na parusahan,” the senator, who is running for president in 2022, said.
According to Amnesty International, the Martial Law era saw the imprisonment of 70,000 people, torture of 34,000, and the killing of 3,240.
