THE CAMP of presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. sought the filing of charges against Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon for revealing her vote to disqualify the candidate even if the poll body has yet to issue a ruling on the case.

On Thursday, Guanzon said that she voted to disqualify Marcos.

Partido Federal ng Pilipinas General Counsel George Briones said that Guanzon destroyed the reputation of the poll body.

“Because of her premature disclosure or leaking of her unpromulgated dissenting opinion… Guanzon should be disbarred, with forfeiture of her retirement benefits and lifetime pensions because she destroyed the reputation of the institution which these moneys come from,” Briones said.

“[Guanzon’s] mad rush to come out with a decision of the First Division bares her true color which is yellow,” he added.

Guanzon said that she revealed her decision to the media after receiving news on alleged efforts to influence commissioners regarding the issue.

The Comelec’s first division was set to hand down its ruling on January 17 but it was delayed after Commissioner Aimee Ferolino’s lawyers contracted Covid19.

Marcos is facing multiple disqualification cases, one of which had been dismissed by the poll body’s second division.
