SENATOR Panfilo Lacson has identified four areas in the basic education program that he aims to improve if he is elected president.

If he wins, Lacson wants the Department of Education to enhance values formation, digital media literacy, financial literacy and gender development.

The senator included reforms in the curriculum as part of his priority program on top of his “Edukasyon Plus” agenda.

“Una, mabuting asal, tamang pag-uugali, pagpapahalaga sa pamilya at mamamayan; pangalawa, digital literacy at patnubay sa paglimi ng maling impormasyon sa social media; pangatlo, financial literacy; at panghuli, gender development at women empowerment,” he said.

Lacson and the members of his policy team said their goal is to prepare future generations of Filipinos confront challenges and be better leaders.

The senator’s proposed policy include the implementation of national scholarship programs for science and technology, sports and leadership skills to prepare the youth to become leaders of industry and government.

In many of his engagements with young people during his previous town hall meetings, the senator mentioned plans to get more students to take agriculture-related courses by offering scholarship programs for them in state universities and colleges.

Lacson’s flagship program for the education sector is his “Edukasyon Plus” agenda which will provide opportunities for senior high school students to earn at least P5,000 monthly allowance through the paid internship program of the national government.

“Hangad ng programang ito na magpapanatili sa mga kabataan sa paaralan at bigyan sila ng mas magandang pagkakataon na mapabuti ang kanilang kalagayan,” the policy team said.
