WEST VISAYAS STATE U STUDENTS GET ONE-WEEK WELLNESS BREAK

/ 15 November 2020

THE WEST Visayas State University goes on a wellness break from November 16 to 21 as part of its program on mental health and adjust to classes under the new normal.

“Physical health and mental wellness are important to survive the challenges of adapting to the present crisis,” said school President Dr. Joselito Villaruz.

“This is time for self-care.  It will allow students to rest and rejuvenate.  In the same manner, it will give faculty and course facilitators the chance to replenish their energy,” emphasized Villaruz, also a medical doctor by profession.

In a memorandum released November 9, Villaruz said faculty or course facilitators shall not engage students in any synchronous or asynchronous class sessions.

“The time will instead be used to pause from the daily instructional grind and use it to provide feedback on students’ outputs,” the school official added.

He noted it was imperative for the university to make adjustments to instructional materials and lessons while considering other factors such as internet connectivity.

WVSU has campuses in Iloilo City, as well as the towns of Calinog, Janiuay, Lambunao, and Pototan.
