VISAYAS STATE U WELCOMES SWISS STUDENT

VISAYAS State University President Edgardo Tulin welcomed the Swiss exchange student who stayed in the university for a month for his undergraduate thesis.

Vincent Neveu arrived in the Philippines on March 31, 2022 and stayed at the VSU Main Campus in Baybay City for over a month. He recently paid a courtesy on Tulin.

With Tulin were International Affairs head Dr. Ana Marquiza Quilicot and College of Agriculture and Food Science Dean Dr. Victor B. Asio.

CAFS was the first to host a visiting foreign student after travel restrictions were lifted.

Neveu is a Forestry student of the Bern University of Applied Sciences.

Hi thesis titled “Analysis of Falcataria moluccana and Acacia mangium according to their quantity, quality and distribution in terms of wood and tannin production potential on the island of Leyte” is part of the Swiss-Pinoy Tannin Project, of which VSU is the implementing university in the country.

The Pinoy Tannin Project entails the creation of a sustainable tannin extraction strategy in the Philippines based on scientific, technological and socioeconomic knowledge that can be used in the setting up of an environmentally-friendly extraction process to help local communities generate new revenues.
