VISAYAS STATE U SETS UP FIRST COMMUNITY PANTRY

/ 6 May 2021

Inspired by the community pantry first established in Quezon City, the Visayas State University also rolled out its own initiative to help those in need.

The university’s Department of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences set up its community pantry that is open every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The initiative was carried out to mark the 97th founding anniversary of VSU.

“The DLABS community pantry signifies that the Filipino Bayanihan spirit is very much alive in VSU. The pantry showcases communal unity in voluntarily pooling resources to help our fellowmen without expecting anything in return —a plain, absolute, and unadulterated urge to ease the burden of others especially in these trying times,” DLABS head Dr. Jett C. Quebec said.

Faculty members from other departments were inspired by the initiative and decided to help.
