THE UNIVERSITY of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines-Cagayan de Oro campus distributed tablets to students who need support in their online classes.

A total of 525 students from different colleges received the gadgets which they can use in the university’s Flexible Learning Program.

The recipients were 188 students from the College of Engineering and Architecture; 108 from the College of Information Technology and Computing; 55 from the College of Science and Technology Education; 102 from the College of Technology; and 13 senior high school students.

The university said students who needed the gadgets the most were prioritized.

“Due to the challenges brought by the pandemic, the university reached out to the students and conducted an online survey to assess their needs when it comes to the availability of gadgets. This is the 2nd batch of selected students who were evaluated,” it said.

“USTP ensures that the quality of academic and student services is sustained even in time of pandemic by providing tablets to bona fide students with no gadget and no internet accessibility,” it added.

The university also provided load assistance to students who did not receive gadgets.

USTP-CDO Chancellor Atty. Dionel Albina and Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture Dr. Leonel Pabilona spearheaded the distribution of the gadgets.
