USEP GETS FUNDING FOR DURIAN PRESERVATIVE PROJECT

THE UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines will receive almost P1 million for a project that aims to produce a natural preservative out of durian.

USEP will turn durian rinds into a natural bio-preservative by isolating bacteriocinogenic Lactic Acid Bacteria, a report by the Philippine News Agency said.

USEP College of Arts and Sciences Research Professor Judee Nogodula said that the project aims to solve the food safety issues of preservatives.

The Department of Science and Technology  Region 11- Philippine Council for Health Research and Development granted USEP P900,000 for the study.

USEP will partner with the University of the Philippines for the project.
