USEP APPROVES 490 FOI REQUEST

/ 5 January 2022

THE UNIVERSITY of Southeastern Philippines approved 490 Freedom of Information requests as part of its campaign for transparency.

USeP said that it received 515 requests but 24 of them were denied.

It said that the requests that were denied were either under the FOI exceptions list “or not being handled, maintained, or stored by the University, or were considered invalid.”

The university said that the university granted the request to uphold the university’s “commitment  towards good governance, accountability, and transparency.”

The requests started in 2017 after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order 02  or the operationalization of the FOI program.

It mandates the full disclosure of government records involving public interest.
