US HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER PARTNERS WITH VISAYAS STATE U

/ 28 June 2022

THE DEPARTMENT of Development Communication of the Visayas State University and the Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights joined forces to establish an initiative that will increase local knowledge on human trafficking.

The Klau Center is located at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Its goal is to advance civil and human rights through academic programs, research and curriculum creation.

Their project titled “Advocacy Paintings on Anti-Human Trafficking and Other Forms of Gender-Based Violence Against Women and Children” is a community education initiative that builds on the successes of a previously held School-on-the-Air program on mental health and environmental conservation funded by the East-West Center.

Working with qualified local lawyers who can provide legal information on the subject of gender-based violence and human trafficking is a crucial component of the initiative.

For this, Vivian E. Vidallon was chosen as the primary lecturer and resource person.
