UE STUDENTS FIGHT HIV STIGMA

/ 4 December 2021

TO MARK HIV/AIDS month, student leaders in the University of the East launched a movement to raise awareness of the disease.

The UE Dentistry Student Council said that  “DRC Redline” aims to help stop discrimination and misconceptions about the killer virus.

“It will really make a huge impact when we will be working hand in hand to change the perception of many by correcting the misconception about HIV,” the group said.

“Let us all continue in spreading awareness and not ignorance because we could make a difference and we should be making history,” it added.

DRC REDLINE also aims to inform the public about safe sex and contraceptives.

The World Health Organization has called on leaders and citizens around the globe to help address inequalities and lack of access to basic HIV services.

“Ending the HIV Epidemic: Equitable Access, Everyone’s Voice” is this year’s World AIDS Day theme.
