UE STUDENT WINS IN SHELL NATIONAL ART COMPETITION
A THIRD year student from the University of the East placed third in the recently concluded Watercolor Category of the Shell National Student Art Competition.
Fine Arts major in Painting student Elaiza Judilla bested more than 1,500 other entries nationwide for her piece titled “Progresibong Papel ng Pagkatao!”
Judilla shared that her artwork symbolically depicts the different stages of a person’s life.
Meanwhile, four other UE Fine Arts majors were also among the finalists in two categories of the contest.
Jericho Cedric Maravilla, a third year BFA major in Visual Communication, was a finalist in the Oil/Acrylic Category for his work named “May Kislap sa Mga Mata.”
Maravilla was also a finalist in the competition’s Sculpture Category for his entry titled “May Layang Lumipad.”
Two other BFA students were finalists in the Sculpture Category – Nicole Vera Cruz for her “Be Like the Bees” and BFA Painting major Aldrin Dave Basister for his “Paglapat ng Pundasyon.”
Similarly, BFA VC student Krista Fe Andrea Toledo was a finalist in the Oil/Acrylic Category for her piece “Itong Balota na Lang ang Pag-asa Ko.”
This year’s event marked SNSAC’s 54th edition. The competition had the theme “reSTART,” a collective call to action to inspire the youth to take a stronger role in rebuilding the nation.
