UE PRESIDENT URGES COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN 2022 POLLS

/ 1 July 2021

UNIVERSITY of the East President Esther Garcia has urged the students, faculty members, and employees to participate in the 2022 local and national elections.

Stressing the importance of collective voices, Garcia said the community must register for the elections to be able to elect the country’s leaders.

“I strongly urge our newly eligible Senior High School and Tertiary Level students, as well as faculty members and employees of the University who have been deactivated, to register and fulfil this patriotic duty,” she said.

She encouraged the community to evaluate and select candidates.

“An educated voter is a responsible voter! The University has lined up a number of activities to increase voters’ literacy so come Election Day, we can decide who will be right for our country,” Garcia said.

“We are standing at a precipice; the fate of our country is in our hands. We can either stand back and let others decide for us or we can take the reins and lead. This is the challenge that we are facing and we should face head on,” she added.
