/ 2 April 2022

TWO graduate students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines bagged awards in the 12th IEEE Computing and Communication Workshop and Conference held virtually in Las Vegas, United States.

Rossian Perea and Epie Custodio, Doctor of Information Technology students, won the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards, respectively.

Perea’s Analysis of the Use of Analytics Platform for the Commercial Value of Mud Crab Production using Non-parametric Model combined aquaculture and IT to improve the country’s annual mud crab yield.

It enables micro farm owners and monitoring institutions to come up with better data-driven decision-making processes for their produce.

On the other hand, Custodio’s Performance Analysis of Deep Learning Architecture in Classifying Calamansi aimed to develop an innovative and reliable way of classifying calamansi based on size, maturity, and overall condition.

“These achievements show that TIP graduate students are globally competitive,” Dr. Enrique Festijo, dean of TIP Manila Graduate Programs, said.

Meanwhile, the researches of DIT and doctorate candidates Christopher Estonilo and Great Allan Ong were also presented in the said conference.

The IEEE CCWC gives students, educators, and researchers an avenue to tackle issues, trends and developments in computing and communication. A total of 190 papers were accepted this year.
