TABLETS, LAPTOPS FOR MANILA STUDENTS, TEACHERS READY FOR DISTRIBUTION

/ 13 August 2020

THE LOCAL government of Manila will start distributing tablets for students and laptops for teachers along with SIM cards early next week.

Less than two weeks before the opening of classes, the city government reported it was able to produce 11,000 laptops with pocket WiFi devices for teachers and 136,950 tablets for students.

According to reports, the Division of City Schools in Manila already received a total of 286,000 SIM cards with 10GB monthly allotment of bandwith for online learning.

“This will certainly help our learners and their instructors ensure internet connectivity during classes. We thank our city government for its unwavering efforts and support in making sure that the shift to blended distance learning will not be a problem for our teachers and students in Manila,” said Division of City Schools Superintendent Dr. Maria Magdalena Lim.

Last week, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman in various parts of the city also provided students school supplies, hygiene kits, and laptop/tablet desks to grade schoolers.

Mayor Isko Moreno reportedly allotted P994 million for education this year as the sector shifts to blended learning due to the Covid19 pandemic.

Classes for basic education will push through on August 24 amid public concerns.
