RTU STUDENTS REITERATE CALL FOR CLASS POSTPONEMENT

/ 14 September 2020

STUDENTS of the Rizal Technological University have reiterated their call to delay the opening of classes, saying their families are still reeling from the impact of the Covid19 pandemic.

Using the hashtags #RTUNotReady, #WalangIwananRTU, #PostponeClassesRTU, #PushFor7RizalistaDemands, some students condemned the administration’s move to push through with the ‘premature opening of classes today, September 14, and urged the university to move it to a later date.

Some students noted that they are not ready to resume their education as their families are still recovering from the economic effects of the pandemic.

“RTU the anti-student university,” “Huwag niyo kaming pakapain sa dilim, RTU!” “GIVE YOUR PROFS AND STUDENTS MORE TIME, RTU!!!” were some of the sentiments the students posted on social media.

One group described RTU’s move as profit-oriented, saying that the administration did not consider the readiness of its students to resume their education.

“Ang pagpilit na buksan ang klase nang hindi kinokonsidera ang kongkretong kalagayan ng mga estudyante ay pagpapakita na ang unibersidad ay walang pagtanaw sa kapakanan ng mga estudyante at ang pangunahing interes lamang ay kumita,” Rise for Education – RTU said on social media.
