PUP STUDENTS DENOUNCE LIFTING OF ACADEMIC EASE POLICY

/ 6 April 2022

STUDENTS of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines took to social media to denounce the move of the school administration to remove its “academic ease” policy.

This came after the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs said that the policy can be revoked as Metro Manila and other areas have reverted back to Alert Level 1.

The academic ease served as a policy for students to not receive failing grades and not attend online classes. It also led to the suspension of giving graded recitations and mid-term examinations.

The students said that while Covid19 cases have declined, their situation amid the pandemic remains unchanged.

“Hindi dahil bumaba na sa ALERT LEVEL 1 ang sitwasyon ngayon ay lumuwag na rin ang sosyo-ekonomikong kondisyon ng mga estudyante,” one student said.

Some students held a rally to denounce the removal of the policy.
