PUP STUDENT SHINES IN EY YOUNG TAX PROFESSIONAL TILT
AN ACCOUNTANCY student from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines ended up second best in the EY Global Delivery Services-Young Tax Professional of the Year 2023 competition.
Pia Fretz Beros competed with top talents from Hungary, India, Argentina, and the Philippines held via MS Teams in Bangalore, India last month.
PUP said Beros demonstrated expertise in fundamental tax concepts, logical reasoning, and English grammar through a rigorous three-stage process.
The competition included moderated discussions, personal interviews, and informative sessions, where Beros established her skills and emerged as a standout representative for the Philippines.
“Reflecting on the impact of the case study, Beros noted the value of pre-competition tax learning sessions, which provided insights into current international tax issues and the application of technology in addressing tax matters,” PUP said.
“Despite a demanding academic schedule, Beros strategically prepared for the competition, demonstrating confidence in responding to detailed questions and ultimately securing a first runner-up finish,” it added.
Ernst and Young Global Delivery Services Careers has managed and organized the competition for 13 years, with the active involvement of EY GDS for six years. It serves as a platform to discover and recognize emerging talents in the field of taxation.
Winners are entitled to exciting prizes such as tax learning and networking sessions, an exclusive EY goodie box, and potential internship opportunities.
