PUP STUDENT COUNCIL DECLARES NTF-ELCAC PERSONA NON GRATA

THE POLYTECHNIC University of the Philippines College of Social Science and Development has declared the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict persona non grata.

It is the second student council to ban the task force from engaging with students, following the move of the College of Communication SC.

The council, In a joint statement with other organizations, noted that the task force wants to intervene in essential programs for the students.

“The College of Social Sciences and Development hereby formally sign this statement with discretion that the signatories have agreed and continuously promote for the establishment of a genuine safeguard for the students not just in this College but encompasses through the PUP System. We campaign for the institutionalization of this declaration,” PUP CSSD SC said on Facebook.

“We also challenge the PUP Administration to rally with the students in providing genuine Student Rights and secure the Welfare within this University,” it added.

The council said that the measure supports the Prudente-Ramos Accord signed in 1990 which bars state forces from entering the university without coordination with the administration.

The other student groups that backed the  initiative are the CSSD Student Council, PUP Peer Facilitators Association, PUP Psychology Students Association, PUP Economics Research Society, PUP-Bukluran sa Sikolohiyang Pilipino, PUP Sociology Society, Trident, Rise for Education Alliance PUP CSSD, and SAMASA PUP CSSD.
