ACCOUNTANCY students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines won awards in the Asia Pacific Asia Pacific Youth Leadership Summit 2022 Business Case Study Challenge hosted by the Beta Gamma Sigma-Universiti Utara Malaysia Chapter.

Team Tanglaw, composed of Mariel Dipolog, John Paul Fadrilan, John Renz Oliveros and Daniel Terencio, bested other participants to snag the top prize.

On the other hand, Team Iskolar composed of Perbielyn Basinillo, Andrei Nicole Bitara, Aj Ryan Del Rosario and Ren Gabriel Velasco was among the top 8 finalists.

Team Tanglaw and Team Iskolar are members of the PUP-JPIA Manila FINESTs, a group of quizzers from PUP Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants Manila.

The students were mentored by Mark Anecito Perlas.

Themed “Empowering Youth with Climate Leadership,” the event aimed to develop the participants’ cognitive skills by solving cases in the most effective and innovative way.

Among the panelists were Teh Poey Sang, Finance Director of Dell Technologies Malaysia; Muhammad Taqi’uddin bin Mehd Hamzah Murghayah, Senior Associate, Product and Business Development Kenenga Islamic Investors Berhad; Elly Chen Xiao Wen, Special Project Associate of Human Inc.; Tahiruddin Bin Haji Hamdan, Senior Director, Environment Safety and Health of Malaysia; and Andrew Yew, Manager of student recruitment of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
