PNU REJECTS CALL TO EXTEND WELLNESS BREAK

/ 19 November 2020

THE PHILIPPINE Normal University rejected the request of the University Student Council to extend the academic wellness break to allow students to recover from the disasters brought by recent typhoons.

The student council requested a two-day wellness break extension. The break was originally scheduled on Nov. 18 to 21.

However, Vice President for Academics Jennie Jocson said that the request could not be granted because it will disrupt the university’s academic calendar.

The university released a memorandum stating that the four-day academic break from Nov. 18 to 21 is final. It encouraged the faculty to show compassion and utmost flexibility to the students.

The PNU also urged the faculty to reschedule academic requirement deadlines and excuse the students from synchronous classes.

Faculty members were also advised to give alternative tasks to the students who are greatly affected by the typhoon.
