PLM TO OFFER MASTER IN SOCIAL WORK

/ 31 July 2022

THE PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila will offer a new program for graduate students for Academic Year 2022-2023 — Master in Social Work.

The move is in line with the school’s vision as “a premier people’s university in pursuing public interest and national development.”

“The Covid19 pandemic and recent natural disasters highlighted further the growing need for more social workers and professionals. PLM aims to help fill that gap by equipping more development workers with the skills and knowledge to carry out the job with higher quality and greater compassion,” PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said.

MSW is a full three-year course of 30 units and is open to BS Social Work graduates with a general weighted average of at least 2.25.

The first year of study will be spent on core courses, followed by a full year of field instruction and classroom courses.

The third year is dedicated to hurdling a comprehensive examination and putting together a capstone project, which should integrate research skills and practical experience. Both are necessary for degree completion.

For admission to the program, applicants must submit college transcript of records; two recommendation letters from former undergraduate professors or immediate supervisors; and a brief description of a tentative capstone project.

For further inquiries, the School of Social Work may be reached through Prof.  Jeaniffer Langway-Muyot, Dean of School of Social Work, at [email protected].
