PLM JOINS UNIBERSIDAD DE MANILA IN PAYING TRIBUTE TO LIM

/ 12 August 2020

THE PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila joined the Unibersidad de Manila in paying tribute to former Mayor Alfredo Lim who succumbed to Covid19 on Saturday, August 8. He was 90.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno confirmed the news in his public address on Facebook.

Lim was very supportive of the school and attended  its major events  to give inspirational speeches to students.

PLM said  Lim also appointed credible officials to its Board of Regents.

The school named Lim as “champion of equal access to education” for his efforts to establish the UDM  — to complement the PLM — during his term as mayor in 1995.

“PLM thanks Mayor Lim for his contributions to the development of the University. Our sincerest condolences to the bereaved,” PLM said.

PLM added that because of Lim, it was steps ahead together with UDM as both schools offered tuition-free education even before a law was enacted giving such privilege to students.

Lim, a four term-mayor,  was also a former senator, Cabinet secretary, lawyer, policeman and director of the National Bureau of Investigation.
