PLM HONORS TEACHERS, EMPLOYEES’ HARD WORK ON LABOR DAY

/ 2 May 2021

THE PAMANTASAN ng Lungsod ng Maynila marked Labor Day by honoring Filipino workers amid the unprecedented challenges brought by the Covid19 pandemic.

“PLM commemorates the heroism of the Filipino workers, whose hard work, resilience, and determination have kept the country moving forward amid the new normal,” the university said in a statement on Saturday.

“PLM also expresses its solidarity with government employees and all other workers from different sectors who have remained steadfast in its fight for fair labor practices, safe workplace, and adequate aid especially during the pandemic,” it added.

The university, in particular, turned the spotlight on its faculty and administrative personnel and thanked them for their commitment in keeping quality education.

“The university is proud and grateful for the hard work of the faculty and administrative personnel who continue to serve the students and the rest of the PLM community despite the challenges brought about by the Covid19 pandemic,” it said.

“In recognition of their efforts, the university has sought the regularization and promotion of its faculty and non-teaching personnel. To date, 147 PLM employees have been promoted and 53 have been regularized since 2020,” it added.

Amid the spike in Covid19 cases, PLM implemented a flexible work arrangement to ensure the health and well-being of its employees.
