MSU-IIT PARTNERS WITH DOST-10 AND EDL GROUP OF COMPANIES
THE MINDANAO State University-Iligan Institute of Technology partnered with the Department of Science and Technology and Estancia de Lorenzo Group of Companies to develop a tracking device for moving objects.
A memorandum of agreement was signed over the weekend by key officials of the institutions.
The project aims to build a commercially viable tracking device and an online platform that will empower users to monitor the location of flying objects using GPS coordinates.
The MSU-IIT said the project holds immense potential “for diverse applications, ranging from navigation and logistics to real-time location monitoring, disaster management, and risk mitigation.”
Associate Professor Orven Llantos will lead a team of engineers and IT experts from MSU-IIT to conduct the project.
DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho Mabborang said that SUCs should bring their research and developments outputs to the communities.
“Let’s move out of our comfort zones in the SUCs. Many universities have R and D outputs but are not felt by Filipinos in the communities,” Mabborang said.
He stressed the need “to enhance partnerships and gain more collaborations with the academe, local government units, and private sectors.”
