THE MINDANAO State University-Iligan Institute of Technology improved its standing in the ranking of top universities in the Philippines, moving 8th in the list as per the Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities.

The institute’s website is ranked based on four indicators namely, presence (5 percent), visibility (50 percent), transparency or openness (10 percent), and excellence or scholar (35 percent).

Chancellor Sukarno D. Tanggol expressed his gratitude to the faculty members, students, and school staff upon learning of the good news.

“I am proud and I am thankful for the work and dedication of the good women and men of MSU-IIT,” he said.

According to Webometrics, the Cybermetrics Lab analyzes Internet and Web contents especially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge.

Using quantitative methods, it has designed and applied indicators that allow them to measure the activities on the web.

The Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities is an initiative of a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the CybermetricsLab.

It is the largest public research body in Spain.
