STUDENTS  under the basic education program of Silliman University experienced technical errors on their online class platform during the first day of classes yesterday, August 24, 2020.

The university said on its official Facebook page its online learning site has encountered “some loading issues.”

“mySOUL encountered some loading issues on the morning of August 24, 2020, which has been resolved by our provider as of 11:00am. With that, student’s attendance will be for monitoring purposes only and synchronous activities will be rescheduled,” the university announced on social media.

mySOUL, which stands for Siliman Online University Learning, is the official online distance learning platform of the university. SU has been using it since it was first introduced in 2008.

Meanwhile, students aired their issues and concerns on the said online learning site.

“I still don’t have my virtual classrooms. Today is our subject orientation as well as tomorrow. My friends got theirs, so why can’t I? It looks like I’ll be missing today’s orientation. Please I really need your assistance,” Pamela Hearty Santoseu wrote.

“I raised this concern on Friday. The website could not handle the traffic. I thought at first that it was due to the internet connection, but it’s not. When you access mySOUL with a high speed connection, it is still loading because the site could not handle the amount of users logged in into the system,” Pearl Ann Colina lamented.

Dino Ozoa, for his part, reacted with sarcasm, “Online classes pa more!”

SU appealed to the students to be patient. “Please bear with us as we transition into Online Distance Learning,” it said.
