The Ifugao State University and the Department of Science and Technology broke ground for the establishment of the first Metal and Engineering Innovation Center in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Officials of the DOST attended the groundbreaking ceremony at the IFSU-Lagawe campus.

DOST-CAR Regional Director Nancy Bantog said that the MEIC will bring science, technology, and innovation to the countryside.

She added that with the establishment of the center, metal and allied industries in the province will no longer have to go outside the province.

IFSU President Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon said that the university will partner with the engineering sector in the Cordilleras for promotion, training, and technology demonstration.

“IFSU-Lagawe leadership is challenged to strengthen the conduct of research and development, consultancy and technology transfer collaboration with the metals and engineering firms and industries universities in CAR particularly those connected with the regional R&E consortia and other potential users and please ensure the sustainability of this project,” Dugyon said.
