IFSU LAUNCHES 2 BOOKS ON IFUGAO CULTURE

/ 16 June 2021

THE IFUGAO State University on Monday launched two books featuring Ifugao culture.

Some faculty members of the university wrote the book “Ifugao Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices.” The other book, “Inabol: Traditional and Contemporary Ifugao Textiles,” featured photos and text of the handwoven textile of Ifugao.

The book launching was part of the 2021 Gotad Ad Ifugao activities.

Antique First District Rep. Loren Legarda, who attended the event, said that the books will further show and discuss the indigenous knowledge in Ifugao.

“Ifugao is a very special place for me because of its rich cultural heritage and abundant natural resources that this province is fortunately blessed with, as well as the whole region of Cordillera.  As the province celebrates its Ifugao Gotad, today is indeed a celebration of its cultural heritage and traditions. We have done this in Panay as well, looking forward to doing it in other regions!” Legarda said on Facebook.

“The books that we launched today gave tribute to the forefathers of the Cordillerans for how earnestly they valued nature and culture. These will further promote, update, enhance and expand the content and discussion of our Ifugao indigenous knowledge in order to provide more reliable information that our IPs, researchers and future generations will all benefit from,” she added.
