/ 19 November 2020

TWO SOPHOMORES and a faculty member from the School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences of the Holy Angel University bagged awards in the 5th Central Luzon Health Research Forum.

The event was hosted by the Department of Science and Technology-Central Luzon Health Research and Development Consortium.

Nursing students Danella Maria Diaz and Kyla Marie Dizon won 1st place in the Digital Poster Exhibit Contest with their research entitled “The Effects of Syzygium-cumini (Duhat) on Well Individuals”.

Diaz and Dizon thanked their adviser, Assistant Professor Noriel Calaguas, and the entire SNAMS for their unwavering support.

“It is indeed an overwhelming moment for us, and I hope that our efforts in this research will bear significant effects in the medical field someday. It has been a pleasure to represent our department and our school in this health research forum. Muli, lagi’t laging para sa Diyos at sa bayan. Padayon, SNAMS,” Diaz said.

Meanwhile, Calaguas, nursing chairperson and assistant professor, placed second in the Oral Research Presentation Contest in the professional category with his study “Structural Factors Affecting Filipino MSMs Intent to Use HIV Testing Services”.

“I am thankful to the DOST-CLHRDC and the panel of judges for the recognition. I am grateful to have placed 2nd considering that my paper was the only social health research paper presented,” Calaguas said.

“As their adviser, I am proud of my students, Danella and Kyla for winning the grand prize for their research poster. This win I would like to dedicate to all of our friends and colleagues in HAU and SNAMS,” he added.
