/ 7 August 2022

THE INSTITUTE of Tourism and Hotel Management of the Far Eastern University won a gold award as a Certified Guest Service Professional Property from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

The awarding was made through Asia World Hospitality Philippines, the exclusive training partner of AHLEI in the country.

During the awarding ceremony, FEU-ITHM Dean Joy Sheelah Era reiterated the school’s commitment to strengthen industry partnerships to produce future-ready tourism and hospitality professionals.

Since 2018, the university has been providing CGSP training to faculty and students to reinforce a culture of professionalism and customer-oriented service.

FEU-ITHM was also the first to offer the CGSP online because of the limitations brought by the Covid19 pandemic in 2020.

Meanwhile, the FEU Publications also won in two categories in the 39th National Book Awards.

Mindanao Harvest 4 by editors Jaime An Lim, Christine F. Godinez-Ortega and Ricardo M. De Ungria was awarded Best Anthology in English.

The book is a sequel to a couple of earlier volumes published more than 30 years ago.

It gathers the poetry, fiction, essays, and drama of 60 established but mostly young emerging writers addressing Mindanao themes like war and conflict, cultural beliefs and practices, Muslim-Christian interrelations, folk traditions, ecological degradation, and ethnic identity issues.

Walk Manila by Lorelei DC de Viana bagged the Best Book on Humor, Sports, and Lifestyle.

“Walk Manila is a walking tour book that showcases the buildings, houses, monuments, and other architectural sites that capture Manila’s history, influence, and culture. It comes with maps and tours developed by the FEU Guides,” the school said.

FEU Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs Gianna R. Montinola and FEU Center of the Arts Director Martin Lopez supervised the book’s design.
