CLSU AND PHILSCAT INAUGURATE NEW RICE BREEDING CENTER

THE CENTRAL Luzon State University and the Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology inaugurated three new laboratories for rice breeding.

The cold pond for Thermo-sensitive Genic Male Sterile along with three new addiational laboratories were unveiled by the two institutions.

Rice experts from China and Agriculture Secretary William Dar attended the ceremonial harvesting of the crops that the center produced.

The Chinese government also donated P4 million worth of fertilizer to help the country’s agricultural sector.

PhilSCAT is one of the specialized research and development centers of CLSU which aims to help achieve food security.

It was initially established in 2000 for both countries to further their communication and technical cooperation in agriculture and related fields.
