CHED EXTENDS FULL AUTONOMOUS STATUS OF SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY

/ 3 June 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education has extended the full autonomous status of Silliman University for two years.

CHED in a memorandum said that the university’s status will be extended until May 31, 2023.

Having full autonomy means that a university can develop and offer academic programs without going through the standard approval process of the commission.

It is also a recognition of a school’s long-standing and continuing contribution to building up the competitiveness of Philippine education in the international community.

“It is welcome news because this gives us in Silliman University the opportunity to continue being creative and innovative as we respond to the pandemic and its effects, especially on education,” Dr. Earl Jude Paul L. Cleope, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said.

SU was granted autonomous status in 2016.
