THE COMMISSION on Higher Education has approved the request of the University of the Philippines Los Baños to hold limited face-to-face classes for select degree programs.
The UPLB said it received a Certification of Authority from CHED for complying with the guidelines and health protocols to resume physical classes for 98 students.
“The authorization was issued on Dec. 17, after CHED deemed UPLB to have complied with the requirements under the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2021-001 of CHED and the Department of Health,” the university said in a statement.
“The preparation for the limited opening of face-to-face classes included retrofitting UPLB’s laboratories and facilities and implementing policies that conform to minimum public health standards,” it added.
On Dec. 3, CHED Regional Office IV inspected the school’s laboratories and learning facilities which will be used by undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Agriculture and Food Science, College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, and College of Veterinary Medicine.
CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III had said universities and colleges may start conducting limited physical classes in all degree programs in December.
However, all students and faculty who participate in face-to-face classes should have been vaccinated against Covid19.
