/ 14 December 2021

THE CATANDUANES State University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources for the establishment of a fisheries hub.

CatSU President Dr. Patrick Alain T. Azanza met with BFAR officials on Saturday for the signing of the MOU.

CatSU said that the Fisheries and Technology Hub will be established in the municipalities of Palnab and Panganiban.

The hub aims to convert the area into an Agro-Industrial Economic Zone.

In Panganiban, a 17-hectare mangrove ecosystem will be built to help with the mud crab production.

Meanwhile, the Palnab property will be used as an agro-tourism site “to showcase its fisheries and aquatic research potentials.”
