BICOL UNIVERSITY STUDENT WINS IN INT’L PUBLIC SPEAKING TILT

/ 24 April 2021

A STUDENT from Bicol University won in the World Synergy 2021, an international public speaking competition.

Rica Marfil, a second year Civil Engineering student, was recognized for her presentation entitled “Project NCT: Nurturing Child’s Talents: Scaffolding Technical Vocational Training to Children with Special Needs.”

Marfil said her topic visualizes a community where every child with disability receives quality education and obtains support.

“I see hope in their disabilities, just like someone has seen hope in my vulnerabilities,” Marfil said.

The competition consisted of two online events — The World Youth and Students’ Rally of Hope and Synergy International 2021.

Both featured top presenters from Regional International Association of Youth and Students for Peace Synergy.

“Marfil bested the other four competitors from different countries — Russia, Nicaragua and two from Korea. More so, she received a certificate and $5000 intended to fund her project,” BU said.

The competition was initiated by the Mother of Peace and the founder of IAYSP Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
