ATENEO STUDENTS BAG TOP PRIZE IN MATHEMATICS TILT

STUDENT mathletes of the Ateneo de Manila University emerged as senior high school division champion in the Sipnayan 2021: Into The Realms.

Deanne Algenio, Jimbo Bernardo and Vanessa Julio bested students from 14 schools across the country to claim the title.

Among the topics covered in the competition were trigonometry, combinatorics, logic, geometry, and number theory.

Participating schools included the Agusan del Sur National High School, Jubilee Christian Academy, Mapua University, Maranatha Christian Academy of Caloocan, MGC New Life Christian Academy, Philippine Cultural College-Caloocan, Philippine Science High School-Bicol Region, Philippine Science High School-CAR Campus, Philippine Science High School-Main Campus, Saint Jude Catholic School, Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School, Tupi National High School, Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science, and Xavier School San Juan.

Organized by the Ateneo Mathematical Society in 1998, Sipnayan is an annual mathematics tilt that provides a venue for students to showcase their knowledge and competence in mathematics.

This year marked the first time that the competition was held online on the Canvas, Zoom and Discord applications.
