ATENEO DECLARES FOUR-DAY ACADEMIC BREAK

/ 24 October 2021

THE ATENEO de Manila University will implement a four-day academic break from November 2 to 5.

No synchronous and asynchronous activities for undergraduate students will be held during the break.

There will also be no submission of activities, quizzes and assignments.

“This academic break is an opportunity for both students and instructors to recharge and attend to more personal matters,” Vice President Maria Luz Vilchez said.

“The first day of this break is All Soul’s Day, following a national holiday, All Saint’s Day. Both beginning days of November are a time to remember in quiet prayer and reflection all those who have gone ahead of us to eternal life,” she added.

Vilchez said graduate students may proceed with their scheduled thesis, dissertation, or capstone project defense or special comprehensive exams provided that “all parties concerned have agreed on these arrangements.”

The ADMU official bared that an academic break will also be declared in the second semester of Academic Year 2021-2022.

“In any situation we have found ourselves, especially during this pandemic, rules are based on what is reasonable given the circumstances present to us,” Vilchez said.

“But the other important side to our ways of proceeding is care and compassion. I trust that we properly discern what is best to do when attending to emergent matters,” she added.
