ASSCAT GETS P25M-GRANT FOR SMART CAMPUS PROJECT

/ 25 June 2021

The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology secured a P26 million funding from the Commission on Higher Education for its Smart Campus Project.

The funds will be used for the establishment of a Campus Network Backbone, Upgraded Internet Subscription, VOIP Communication, Wireless Link Backbone, and Multimedia Room Facilities.

“This project is a significant support of CHED to ASSCAT in the establishment of the smart campus through investment in ICT infrastructure and facilities and human resource ICT capabilities,” the school said on Facebook.

“This project will surely assist the ASSCAT in implementing flexible teaching and learning options as an innovative and appropriate approach in delivering higher education services to the students in this pandemic crisis. This is the contribution of higher education institutions and CHED in reducing the adverse impact of Covid19 in the education sector as stipulated in RA 11494 or Bayanihan to Recover as One-Act,” it added.

College President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano said that the grant will help ASSCAT with its operations amid the “difficult times.”

Of 111 state colleges and universities that applied for the grant, only 19 fully complied with the necessary requirements.
