ADMU HONORS 200 RESEARCHERS, STAFF

/ 18 December 2020

THE ATENEO de Manila University recently honored more than 200 faculty members, research assistants, staff, and students for their research output for Academic Year 2019-2020.

The citations were given during the annual University Scholarly Work Awards.

The University Scholarly Publication Awards are bestowed on researchers from the Loyola Schools and the Ateneo Professional Schools in recognition of their influential and scholarly works for the academic year 2019-2020. Only peer-reviewed research is eligible for the publication awards, ADMU said.

Dr. Ma. Louise Antonette delas Peñas, Associate Dean for Research and Creative Work of Loyola Schools, presented for the first time the Award for Foreign co-authorship, a Scopus-indexed scholarly work with at least one co-author from an overseas university, and the Creative Work Awards representing performing arts, screen arts, and visual arts.

University President Fr. Roberto Yap said that the pursuit of research “exemplify everything that we value as a Filipino, Jesuit, and Catholic university—a testament to both the excellence and compassion of our faculty.”

Yap said the addition of the Creative Work Awards upholds the fundamental role of arts.

He added that the output grew in spite of the pandemic.

“Despite the limitations imposed by the pandemic, I know that extensive research was done this year. Much of the research focused on the pandemic itself and its effects on various communities, its impact and significance. It is my hope that Ateneo will continue to have a culture of research of service, nation building, and human development in the foreseeable future,” he said.

Yap said that the university’s research output indexed in the Scopus Database increased by 39 percent from 2018-2019, “heralding its desire to continue pushing the boundaries for new knowledge.”
