THE DEPARTMENT of Education issued an erratum to correct the answer to the ‘tattoo’ question on a module that drew the ire of netizens.

“We have issued the erratum. The wrong answer was indicated in the answer key,” Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said.

On the Grade 5 Araling Panlipunan module, students were asked what it meant to have a tattoo. The choices were (a) pagiging kriminal; (b) pagkaalipin; (c) kagitingan at kagandahan; (d) pagiging mababa ng katayuan sa lipunan.

In the original version, the answer was letter a.

On the corrected version, the question was rephrased “Ang tattoo ay simbolo ng ____ to. Sa ating mga ninuno, ang tattoo ay simbolo ng _____.

The  answers were:

(a) Kaayusan; (b) Kabaitan; (c) Kagitingan at kagandahan; (d) Katalinuhan

The correct answer was ‘C’.
