/ 31 October 2020

THE TAGUIG Science High School formed an independent committee to investigate alleged sexual harassment cases involving its students and faculty members.

In a statement released on Facebook, the TagSci administration said a meeting was held with members of the parents-teachers association and the Supreme Student Government to discuss the issue.

“In response to this matter, the school, together with the School’s Division Office of Taguig City and Pateros formed a special independent committee to handle the investigation and address the matter as soon as possible. This is to avert conflict of interest in all parties involved,” the school said.

The committee is composed of representatives from the local government unit of Taguig, Sangguniang Kabataan, the guidance counselor, the president of GPTA Ferdinand Paggao, and an SSG Focal person.

The school added that it is in the process of making significant reforms in its system in line with the the Department of Education’s Child Protection Policy and the Safe Spaces Act of 2018.

It is also considering revising the student handbook.

“This institution, true to its core values, also highlights the students’ right to freely express their views and the school’s obligation to listen and consider them, and to facilitate their participation in matters concerning them,” TagSci said.
