THE CITY of Manila has suspended face-to-face classes at all levels in public and private schools on Monday, September 21, amid expected gatherings and demonstrations marking the 54th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced the suspension upon the recommendation of the Manila Police District (MPD).

The MPD said public gatherings, commemorative events, marches and freedom rallies are expected to take place in several parts of the city.

The city government said the suspension is aimed at protecting students from potential safety risks arising from heavy traffic, road closures and large crowds during the activities.

Schools have been advised to implement the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) in lieu of face-to-face classes for the day.
