MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has highlighted the livelihood and skills training program for residents of Manila Boys Town, which aims to help them become more responsible, productive, and independent.

Under the city’s “Kaagapay, Kabuhayan” program, residents make and sell products such as crinkles, macaroons, and round rags as part of their practical training.

Moreno said the initiative not only provides residents with livelihood opportunities but also helps them develop skills they can use when they return to the community.

A portion of the income from the products is set aside as personal savings for the residents, while another portion goes into a revolving fund to sustain and expand the program.

The mayor said the initiative seeks to recognize the residents’ abilities and hard work while preparing them for greater self-reliance in the future.

The program promotes livelihood opportunities today while equipping residents with skills they can use in the future.
