THE DE LA SALLE Lady Spikers ruled the UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball tournament after sweeping defending champion National University, 25-22, 25-16, 25-16, in Game 2 of the finals on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

With the win, La Salle completed a remarkable 16-0 campaign and joined the short list of teams that finished a UAAP women’s volleyball season unbeaten.

Shevana Laput starred for the Lady Spikers with 20 points, while Angel Canino delivered another impressive all-around performance with 11 points, 10 excellent receptions, and 10 excellent digs.

Determined to avoid another heartbreaking ending similar to its failed title bid in Season 76, La Salle stayed focused throughout the season and dominated the finals series against NU without yielding a single set.

The triumph served as redemption for the Lady Spikers after falling to the Lady Bulldogs in the previous season’s finals.

La Salle secured its 13th women’s volleyball championship overall and prevented NU from completing a rare three-peat in the tournament.
