SENATOR PUSHES EDUCATIONAL AID FOR CHILDREN OF FARMERS AND FISHERFOLK
SENATOR JV Ejercito has filed a measure aimed at providing educational assistance to the children and dependents of farmers and fisherfolk.
Under Senate Bill 1960, or the proposed Educational Assistance for Children and Dependents of Farmers and Fisherfolk Act, Ejercito emphasized that poverty remains a major barrier to accessing quality education.
The proposed measure calls for scholarships and educational grants to help ease the financial burden on families of farmers and fisherfolk, enabling their children to pursue education without economic constraints.
“As education enables individuals to enhance their quality of life, the State must ensure that no one is left behind amid the continuing challenges in accessing education,” Ejercito said in his explanatory note.
He added that educational assistance is not only vital for improving the lives of farmers and fisherfolk families but also contributes to broader national efforts toward poverty reduction.
