ENGINEERING faculty members and alumni from the University of Santo Tomas took center stage at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Computer, Data Science, and Applications 2026, presenting research that highlighted emerging innovations in artificial intelligence and engineering technologies.
The three-day conference gathered experts and scholars to exchange insights on advancements shaping the future of AI, computing, and data-driven applications.
Assoc. Prof. Edison Roxas of the Department of Electronics Engineering delivered a keynote address examining causal relationships in artificial intelligence systems through transfer entropy analysis.
During the technical sessions, Engr. Alvin Allen Manuel and Asst. Prof. Ryan Ramirez from the Department of Civil Engineering presented a study that utilized soil moisture data from Sentinel satellite imagery to model dam seepage and enhance infrastructure monitoring.
Engr. Mariz Chua of the Department of Electrical Engineering also shared findings on a residential electricity demand forecasting model integrating big data tools with support vector machine algorithms to strengthen energy management strategies.
Their participation underscored the institution’s growing contribution to interdisciplinary research connecting artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and sustainable engineering solutions.
