PH GEARS UP TO HOST FOUR MAJOR INTERNATIONAL VOLLEYBALL EVENTS IN 2026

27 February 2026

THE PHILIPPINE National Volleyball Federation has unveiled its 2026 event calendar, confirming that the country will host four major international volleyball tournaments this year.

The schedule includes the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Challenge in Nuvali from May 20 to 24, the 2nd AVC Women’s Cup from June 6 to 14, the Volleyball Nations League Women’s Week 2 from June 17 to 21, and the 6th SEA V-League Men’s Week 1 from July 10 to 12.

The Philippines will compete in the 2nd AVC Women’s Cup and the 6th SEA V-League Men’s Week 1, both set in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

During a press briefing at the PNVF office in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, PNVF President Anthony Liao revealed a proposal to allow Thai coach Tai Bundit, head coach of Alas Pilipinas, to select players for the national training pool before club teams pick from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft.

Under the plan, selected players would receive monthly allowances and commit to the national team for two years. Liao said this approach would help address scheduling conflicts players face between club and national duties.

PNVF Vice President Yul Benosa, Secretary General Otie Camangian, Board Members Fr. Victor Calo and Sherwin Maganda, and Executive Director Ireneo Bautista also attended the briefing.

The Philippines will also participate in other international competitions, including the 6th Asian Beach Games, Asian Women’s U18 Championship, Asian Men’s U18 Championship (July 12–18), 6th SEA V-League Men’s Week 2, 6th SEA V-League Women’s Weeks 1 and 2, FIVB U17 Girls’ World Championship, and the 19th Asian Games.
