SOLON WELCOMES P1.38-T EDUCATION BUDGET FOR 2026
TINGOG Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre lauded the approval of the P1.38-trillion education budget for 2026, calling it a significant step forward for the country’s education sector.
Acidre, chair of the House Committee on Higher Education and Co-Chair of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), described the allocation as a positive development and a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to education reform.
The P1.38-trillion budget—equivalent to 4.5% of the country’s GDP—represents the largest investment in Philippine education to date.
Acidre said this milestone underscores that education remains central to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s national development agenda.
EDCOM II has repeatedly highlighted the need for learning recovery, improved sector governance, upgraded facilities, and stronger support for teachers and school leaders. Acidre noted that the 2026 allocation will allow these priorities to be pursued more aggressively.
The funding is expected to sustain key programs, including the ARAL (Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning) initiative, classroom construction and rehabilitation, the school-based feeding program, teacher hiring, and modernization of basic education.
Acidre expressed confidence that the increased budget will help the country recover from persistent learning losses and build a stronger, more equitable education system.
